BIOGRAPHY - HIERRO

HIERRO of Spanish origin, born in Casablanca, Morroco the 25 December 1959, arrived in France in 1973. While living in Nice with his family, the world of art imposed itself as his main centre of interest very quickly. Self-taught, he began painting very early and his works were exhibited for the first time in a gallery when he was 18 years old. He was discovered during this exhibition by an art dealer who purchased his works and then organized all his exhibitions, from Paris to Frankfurt, passing by Art Basel, Vienna, Munich and others up until the death of the art dealer in 1986.

After this privileged experience of collaboration in Europe with a partner belonging to the soon to be extinguished race of grand art dealers, Hierro embarked upon a new non-sedentary adventure, mul- tiplying travels to the United States where he moved his atelier to New York, San Francisco and exhibited his works in Houston, Chicago and Boston.

Devoting himself to the daily and unconditional worship of art, drawing his inspiration and his energy from the different encounters and travels, he multiplied his artistic experiences in different fields such as design in Italy, set design for the opera in Poland or in the world of music - a way for him to regenerate his pictorial practice master: Painting. Thus through travel, exhibitions and projects, he enriched his search of self, therefore forever evolving his art and attempting to approach the themes that would allow him to express his vision of the world.

Today, sharing himself between his atelier in the South of France and his atelier in New York, he is preparing his future exhibitions in tranquility or in noise, just like the paradoxical image that he has made of himself and of human beings.
